came across an interesting newspaper article. it was published in Chinese, so i'll just loosely translate it to English. =)

"Avoid 3 Mistakes for a Good Relationship"

1) an incompatible boyfriend

You may have specific characteristics that a guy must possess before you will be romantically attracted to him. but girls tend to overlook small yet essential details. such as: you're one who slps early and wakes up early, but you're keeping a lookout for guys at pubs. the living styles of the 2 ppl are completely different, and conflicts are bound to arise in future. they are not bad boyfriends, but they are probably not suitable boyfriends for you!

to counter this, you can start by being truthful to yourself abt the kind of guys you want. eg. if you're a workaholic, keep a lookout at your company's events where you get to meet professionals. if you love working out, you can go to the gym or sign up for sports classes, where the guys there are definitely more compatible with you, than guys from the pubs.

2) not ready for a relationship

most girls long for a stable r/s, but they rather hop from one guy to another and nv settle down, for fear of commitment. if you're one to enjoy freedom of being single, any r/s for the time being will not last.

to counter this, give each other lots of freedom, esp at the start of a r/s. probably just meet up once/twice per wk. after all, absence makes the heart grow fonder!

3) not being honest abt one's needs

most girls think: "if you're my Mr Right, you'll know EXACTLY what i want!" they'd rather keep quiet and wait for the holy day when the silly guy finally realises what the girl wants. that is very fatal to a r/s! by then, the girl wld haf lost her temper and start screaming at him for not "knowing her well".

to counter this, simply be honest to each other abt ur needs! if you want ur boyfriend to call you before he turns in every night, just tell him that! he will simply call you before he slps, and any misudstding will be eliminated.

it seems sooo easy to maintain a healthy r/s after reading this, but probably anyone who was/is in a r/s will know it isnt THAT easy la. or.... is it just me?

food for thought:
a woman shld look for, not a man who has $100 in his pocket, but one who is willing to give up his last $1 for you.
