listening to: SHE - 绿洲

woke up ystd morning to Kit Chan's "Home". the childcare kiddos dressed in red and white were having their National Day celebrations downstairs, and singing along to the song. cute ba, haha.

even though Home was the theme song a decade ago, it is still often played at National Day celebrations. on the other hand, i still hadnt heard this year's theme song, and have no idea who the performer is. the theme songs from the last decade are easy to remember and sing along to, but the theme songs of recent years lack the "feel".

and it's amazing that, even though to me, Singapore isnt the best place to live in, i'll still get all patriotic when 9th Aug is here. wahaha.

btw, here's to share some old school pics.

i grew up playing Happy Family, it's so fun! next time we dont play Dai Dee in sch liao, play Happy Family.

Power Rangers. i like the pink one, Kimberly.

the permed-hair courteous lion. i remembered he was everywhere a decade ago. on trains, postage stamps, stickers, posters...... now that he is gone, everyone has forgotten the courtesy too. seems like it's time to bring him back!

haha, PEP Basic Reader. i'm not THAT old, but my Kor went thru this, though.

old-school SBS bus. amazing thing is, it looks like the non-aircon 74 bus that i will kena occasionally. some things never change, huhh. like bus standards.

i didnt read Zhi Shi Bao, but Mom said my Kor did, and he had to do paper cuttings for schoolwork. the newspapers now are so colourful and exploded with information.

yayy, erasers with country names. i learned most country names with these, and can use to play the rubber game too. haha. Dang Kar Wee, you wld noe what i talking abt rite. our fav pastime in sch.

Bare Knuckles!! it's our family's pastime lor. the 4 of us would literally fight it out in the game. this is just the 1st version, there are more characters in the newer versions, a very muscular Ah Pek and a kid on skates.

VERY old school TV. now until High-Definition TV liao. my Grandma got this TV somewhere at home, no joke. i was still watching it some Chinese New Years back, but now spoiled le. =(

haha. shall let you guys guess what these paper strips are.

NO, they are not those tickets after praying in a temple to decipher your wishes.

after a quick check with Mom, she said they are....

BUS TICKETS. that's right. you board the bus and tell the conductor which stop you're alighting, then he punches a hole at the bus stop #.

that's horrifying. what if i dont know where to alight?...

after seeing all these, it's time to contribute mine! hahaha.

the Sharity elephant! stupid elephant la. every Children's Day see this elephant will sian. cos the school will give you an envelope to put in any amt of donation $. sighs. oh, and if you got a gd eyesight, you'd see the line that says: Children's Day Celebration Collection 1997. yes, 11 holy years ago, when i was Primary 4 girl with centre-parting hair!

sailormoon's card sticker. i dont like them nor watch the cartoon, but i like the flashy part of the sticker.

i dont know what this sticker is abt. but 1 thing that makes it worth a mention: my Mom gave it to me, and she had it when she was a KID. so this sticker is abt 40 yrs old by now.

here's wishing Singapore a happy 43rd birthday!
