came across a fren's FB status, saying she is "officially letting go of her 8 years' dream & ambition to become a certified dietician."


(FYI Stef, this friend is THINNER than me. skinny beings like planning other peoples' diets huhh.)


anyway, if im not wrong she graduated not long ago from TP with Dip in Food Science & Nutrition.

to date there are no dietician degree courses available locally, and she doesnt have the cash to head overseas. therefore the path to her dreams came to a standstill and she has to seek other paths.


oh well, her scenario sounds way too familiar.

i believe we are not the only two in Singapore to face this problem. with secondary schools generating hundreds of Food & Nutrition course students yearly, why are there no dietician/nutritionist degree courses available?

overseas universities offer these courses in UK, Canada, Australia and USA.

i shall use Monash University in Australia for example.

their Bachelor of Nutrition & Dietetics requires 4 years, AUD$32,700 per year. i have to fork out S$160,884 in total even if it means i drink rainwater and sleep at bus stops for the 4 years.

i guess if ever i have the chance to head overseas for the degree, i would continue to build my career over there and not return to Singapore. i believe their career prospects would be better.



as for now, i shall aim to become a humble lab technician in Singapore.
