went for the monthly gynae check-up last week.

the same old stuff were the ultrascan to see if it is growing according to term, and to check for the all-important fetal heartbeat. just hearing the heartbeat itself lifts a big rock off me.

the new tests this time round, were the urine test to check for gestational diabetes, and the blood test to check for HIV and maybe genetic diseases.

the urine test was simple. just pee onto a test strip and show it to the nurse. if she doesnt give a worried look, it means you're fine. and yes, i am!

the blood test required about 5-10ml of my precious blood to be drawn into the syringe and sent for analysis. will get the report feedback at the next check-up i think. was so emo to see my blood in the syringe, they are so very precious to me!

on a happier note, ive gained weight! about 500 grams. =) better than nothing right??

and we've taken up the delivery package at Mount Alvernia. =)

the gynae asked if i can feel any fetal movements yet and i said no. probably cos i didnt take much notice. during the scan, it happened to wriggle about, as though it was "cracking" its neck like what i always do to my joints. hahahahaha. i was so surprised i just stared at the screen. it didnt even feel like that image came from right inside me. the feeling was soooo weird!

gynae: "there! your baby is wriggling, can you feel it?!"

me: -blank look- "no, i dont feel anything nothing."

gynae: " ohh... umm... maybe cos your baby is still small. you will be able to feel it soon, dont worry."

i was not even worried, he looked more worried though.

and Mr Tan never liked me to "crack" my joints, especially at the neck. he said, "what if it learned this bad habit from me now?" i was like, "ya right." after i saw it sort of imitating that during the scan, i cant be sure anymore. =/

and as usual, i went home with a stack of pills after the visit.

BUT.........

2 days after the visit, i felt its 1st fetal movement!!! *breaks into tears of joy*

of cos i didnt cry la, hahaha. all i did was to sms Mr Tan to make him jealous, cos i know he would be.

to sidetrack a little, i think if men can ever get pregnant, Mr Tan will definitely want to be the preggy one between us. he is ever so curious about the process, cos he knows he will never exactly know how all these feels like. =)

anyway, how to describe the feeling? i pressed my palm against my bulging uterus. then i felt something in there pushing against my palm gently!

it was a fun experience, limited edition though. it hardly moves about so it's pretty hard to catch the moment. so whoever wants to have a go at trying your luck at feeling its movements, will depend on your affinity with it. =)

okie enough of all the 妈妈经 from Mummy Min for now. till then!
